On December 30, 2023, Professor Ning Zhang’s paper, "Can China's energy rights trading achieve a win-win situation for economic dividends and energy conservation and emission reduction?" published in Economic Research, received the First Prize in the 36th Social Sciences Outstanding Achievement Award of the Shandong Province. This was the only first prize awarded to a project from the Weihai Campus of Shandong University and marks the third consecutive time that. Prof. Zhang has been awarded this prize.

Ning Zhang, Ph.D. in Economics, currently serves as a distinguished professor and a Ph.D. advisor at Shandong University. He is also the Deputy Dean of the Weihai Institute for Interdisciplinary Research and the Director of the Institute of Blue and Green Development. Additionally, he holds positions as a Senior Fellow in the Department of Land Economy, a Researcher at the Center for Environmental Energy and Natural Resource Studies, and a Researcher at Darwin College, at the University of Cambridge. Ning Zhang is selected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. He is recognized as a national-level leading talent, the chief expert of major projects funded by the National Social Science Fund of China, a recipient of the Excellent Youth Foundation award from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, a distinguished Taishan Scholar, a Pearl River Scholar, and the principal investigator for key projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation and national key R&D projects.
